Yu Xiaqiu, Party secretary of Changjiang village in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, said that she and her fellow villagers will continue efforts to explore a new path for common prosperity in the years to come.
Yu, who's also president of Changjiang Runfa Health Co Ltd and a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which will be held in Beijing this month, made the remarks during a recent interview with Xinhua Daily.
Yu said that she will share her feelings and thoughts on rural areas and hopes to have in-depth exchanges with other delegates regarding rural revitalization, retention of talents and the construction of rural medical institutions during the congress.
The village has achieved significant development in the past decade under Yu's leadership.
In July, Hainan Hailing Chemipharma Co Ltd, which is based in Changjiang village, made the list of the top 100 pharmaceutical and chemical enterprises in China.
In addition, Changjiang village has teamed up with the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Science to establish a 1,800-mu (120 hectares) seeding base and a 40-mu tulip base to develop the modern agriculture industry.
Authorities have also leveraged the local intangible cultural heritage to bolster the rural tourism sector.
To date, all residents in Changjiang village have access in healthcare, employment and social security insurance systems.
