Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has been making efforts to improve its administrative services for local companies over the past decade.

Chong Aihua, deputy director of the Zhangjiagang bureau of administrative examination and approval, said the bureau has shifted all government services online and opened many one-stop service windows to streamline project examination and approval procedures.

Other departments in the city, including the people's court and the bureau of market regulation, have also established new mechanisms or implemented reforms to create a favorable business environment for enterprises.

Located in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou Sanray Pharmaceutical Co launched a new construction project in May and was able to complete the examination and approval process in less than two months, about two to three months earlier than other projects. This would not have been possible without the one-stop service center for investment projects that was opened on July 1 at the city's government service hall.

The service center consists of staff members from all kinds of departments and this helps companies save much time that would otherwise be spent travelling between these departments.

In addition, the Zhangjiagang government has been holding regular meetings with representatives of local enterprises to learn about their needs. Online chat groups have also been created to facilitate communications between the two parties.
