The Lejiang community in Leyu town, Zhangjiagang has over the past few years been taking action to make the neighborhood more child-friendly.
A number of facilities, including a pocket park and rainbow roads, have been built in the community for children to play. Various activities such as drawing competitions and paper cutting have also been held.
The community had recently set up a tutoring center where retired teachers and college students conducted classes on subjects such as Go and drawing for left-behind kids during the summer vacation.
An office that is responsible for protecting teenagers has also been set up in the community. The office is planning to seek cooperation with schools and social organizations to care for disadvantaged children.
