The Chinese 3x3 Basketball League 2022, the highest-level competition of its kind in China, kicked off on Aug 4 in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.

Organized by the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and Shenlan Sports (Beijing) Co, the event will run until Aug 7 and feature three categories – men's super league, women's super league and men's satellite super league. The top six teams in the satellite super league will compete with the bottom two teams in men's super league for six qualification spots in next year's super league.

Forty-one teams participated in the games in the Zhangjiagang Everrising Holdings area. The event will be live-streamed and can be watched on screens set up in the city's major commercial districts.

The super league comprises 12 rounds of competitions held in several cities in China. President of the CBA Yao Ming said at the opening ceremony that he hopes the games can increase the popularity of basketball, especially 3x3 basketball, among the public.
