Fifteen private companies in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently included in Suzhou's top 100 list.
Zhangjiagang had the most companies in the list among all districts and counties in Suzhou.
Companies must have a business revenue of at least 2.61 billion yuan ($384.56 million) to make the list. Jiangsu Shagang Group and Jiangsu Yonggang Group in Zhangjiagang were ranked third and sixth respectively. Their business revenues were 302.76 billion yuan and 120.56 billion yuan respectively.
Ten Zhangjiagang companies were among the top 100 innovative companies in Suzhou.
Zhangjiagang has been providing consistent support to its private companies. There are presently about 67,000 private entities in the city, with more than 30,000 set up in the past five years alone. The private sector currently accounts for 67.3 percent of Zhangjiagang's gross output of industrial companies above a designated scale.
To promote the innovation-driven and high-quality development of private companies, Zhangjiagang has implemented a series of measures such as facilitating communication between governments and companies, improving administrative services for companies, and helping companies achieve cooperation with colleges.
