Several pocket parks in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province have become popular destinations for locals to enjoy their leisure time.
The Bailu Pocket Park, which is near the Bailu Primary School, features several sunshades shaped like leaves. The 26 parking spots in the park are painted with the 26 English letters bearing little deer-shaped designs created by students and teachers at the primary school.
The Xinshihe Pocket Park along the Xinshihe Road also has special sunshades and benches that are inspired by pottery pots from the New Stone Age unearthed in Zhangjiagang. Some camphor trees and low plants have been grown to beautify the park.
The pocket park in the Jinxiang community in Jingang subdistrict consists of six sections that are themed on the six decades from the 1950s to 2010s. Many items representing the old times, such as black-and-white TVs and mascots of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Winter Games, have been used to decorate the parks.
Meanwhile, a pocket park themed on garbage classification has been established in Leyu town. Here, local residents can play games and learn how to separate their trash.
Over at the 1,050-square-meter pocket park in Huayuanbang No 2 village, visitors will find a long gallery, Chinese screens and floor tiles engraved with pictures showcasing different Suzhou Embroidery skills.
