Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has taken multiple measures to boost the high-quality development of local companies.
The city has cooperated with the Jiangsu Institute of Quality and Standardization to build an online service platform that allows companies to find the latest industry standards, train employees and protect intellectual property rights. Ten physical work stations were also set up to offer companies free services related to latest standards and technologies.
Zhangjiagang has also trained a host of quality management professionals to help companies improve product quality and handle technical problems. To date, more than 2,700 companies in the city, including more than 80 percent of industrial companies above a designated scale, have employed a chief quality officer.
Xu Wenliang, president of Suzhou Tongda Machinery Co, said the advanced management pattern introduced by the chief quality officer has reduced raw material consumption, increased benefits, and promoted corporate image. The company's products have been selling well in Southeast Asian, European and American countries, said Xu.
In 2021, Zhangjiagang signed a cooperation agreement with the China Certification and Inspection Group to help its small and micro-sized enterprises find and solve problems regarding quality management. As a result of these efforts, many companies have achieved better business performance.
Among them is Jiangsu Aceretech Machinery Co which specializes in developing, manufacturing and selling waste plastic recycling equipment. The company's product qualification rate has increased to 96 percent from 90 percent, while its customer satisfaction ratio has grown to 98 percent from 95 percent. Additionally, its spending on remaking disqualified products per month has declined to 5,000 yuan ($739.99) from 16,000 yuan.
