Over 20 people who have earned a doctorate from overseas universities visited Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, from July 25 to 26.

They visited a number of places including an exhibition hall and Shagang Group to learn about the city's living and business environment.

Weng Yuren, vice-mayor of Zhangjiagang, presented the city's preferential policies for talents and said he hopes more high-level talents will work or start businesses in the city.

Three doctors signed cooperation agreements with local partners during the visit. Among them is Chen Lei, a doctor of materials from Rutgers University in the United States, who signed a deal with the Zhangjiagang Bonded Zone.

Chen and his team have developed traditional Chinese medicinal products fermented with microbes that have bright market prospects. "We are planning to build a production base and explore more distribution channels. The favorable policies offered by Zhangjiagang government are a boon for our business," said Chen.
