Two pocket parks in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, have been included in a list of 100 provincial-level major projects that benefit the public released by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
Among the projects is the Qianxi Park which is being renovated. According to the Zhangjiagang bureau of housing and urban-rural development, construction started in April and is expected to complete by the end of this year.
Liu Linyu, a staff member of the bureau, said the wooden walkways in the park have been restored and fir trees have been planted on both sides of them. Facilities including a museum of natural science, augmented reality devices, and rides for children will also be added.
The construction of another pocket park, which is located to the east of Dacheng Square, is now 80 percent complete. The park is expected to open in early July.
Zhangjiagang will build 30 pocket parks near residential communities in 2022. Sixteen of them are currently under construction and 10 will be ready by September, said Lu Hongxin, an official from the housing and urban-rural development bureau.
