Han's Laser, a global technology company, started construction of its East China headquarters in the Zhangjiagang Bonded Zone in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province on June 20.
The 10-billion-yuan ($1.48-billion) headquarters will manufacture five major kinds of products, including high-power laser machines, new energy equipment, display panel equipment, as well as semiconductor and photovoltaic equipment.
The output of the production base is expected to account for 60 to 70 percent of the group's total. Besides helping ease the shortage of intelligent manufacturing equipment in China, the base will also contribute to the formation of a more complete industrial chain in Zhangjiagang and improve the city's high-end equipment sector.
Wu Qingwen, mayor of Suzhou, said at the groundbreaking ceremony that the Suzhou government will provide a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment to aid the company's further development. He added Suzhou is currently focusing on four major industries – electronic information, equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, and advanced materials.
