​Tourism market picks up in Zhangjiagang during Dragon Boat Festival

Tourist attractions and public cultural venues in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province were crowded with visitors during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival which ended on June 5.


Places of interest in the city recently resumed operations following the containment of the local COVID-19 outbreak.


From June 3 to 5, scenic areas in Zhangjiagang received 32,600 tourists, generating 645,200 yuan ($96,788.32) in operating revenue and 352,300 yuan in ticket revenue. Star-rated hotels and cinemas in the city received 1,588 and 10,400 customers, yielding 2.47 million yuan and 340,400 yuan in revenue respectively.


Farms and villages were the most popular destinations for tourists, while cycling, camping, picnicking and picking fruits were among the most popular holiday activities.


Public cultural venues in Zhangjiagang held 28 online and physical activities and received 30,700 visitors during the holiday.


The city's cultural center, Xiju Opera art center, museum and other places staged several shows at commercial districts and held a variety of activities including rowing dragon boats and making sachets and bands.


Some online platforms also launched art classes, Dragon Boat Festival-themed book lists, and virtual products.
