Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, plans to carry out 268 major projects worth 52.34 billion yuan ($7.85 billion) in investments in 2022. Many of these projects have started construction.

The Maidi Medical Equipment Industry Innovation Park, which has an investment value of 3.8 billion yuan and spans 136.5 mu (9.1 hectares), broke ground last November. The first phase of the project, which is 80 percent completed, can be put into use in September, while the construction of the second phase will begin in August and be finished by the end of June 2023, according to Fu Jianqiang, chief engineer of the industrial park.

A number of industry leaders including Canhelp Genomics Co have already signed agreements to set up their branches in the park. Facilities such as a research and development center and a testing center will also be included in the future.

Jiangsu Guangda Xinsheng Precision Intelligent Manufacturing Co is investing 4.2 billion yuan into building factories that will produce parts for wind power generators. The project is expected to generate 5.5 billion yuan in annual sales, said Dai Zulin, an executive at the company.

Construction of roads, schools, hospitals, museums, water projects and residential homes are also being carried out in Zhangjiagang.
