Twenty-eight companies in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, were recently selected to become a part of the evaluations for the China Export Leading Index.
The selected companies, including Jiangsu Shagang Group, Jiangsu Yonggang Group, Zhangjiagang Furui Special Equipment Co, and Gtig Hubo Industrial Co, are from multiple sectors such as steel, textile, auto parts and plastic products. These enterprises had exported more than 38 million yuan ($5.69 million) worth of goods in 2021.
Compiled by the General Administration of Customs (GAC), the China Export Leading Index is used to forecast the country's export trend in the coming months and is helpful to the central government's macroeconomic regulations and control.
The GAC usually replaces the companies that are chosen as samples every two to three years. Eighteen Zhangjiagang companies were selected in the last round.
