Sun Rui, a mushroom grower in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, is expecting a tidy profit this mushroom season.

Sun runs 16 morel mushroom greenhouses in Jiannong village, Nanfeng town. According to him, each greenhouse can produce about 500 kilograms of mushrooms that can sell for 55,000 yuan ($8,138.79).

To increase the added value of products, Sun has purchased machines to make dried morel mushrooms that can sell for 250 yuan per kilogram, more than two times the price of fresh mushrooms.

The extended value chain can also bring prosperity to nearby residents and help with rural vitalization, said Sun.

The grower has also equipped his greenhouses with smart environment monitoring systems and water spraying devices to ensure optimal conditions for mushroom growth.
