Zhangjiagang in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, took the third position on a list of the top 10 counties by GDP in China in 2021.
The gross regional product of Zhangjiagang in 2021 was 303.02 billion yuan ($45.83 billion), up 8.0 percent year-on-year and making it the third county in China to generate a gross product that is more than 300 billion yuan. The per capita GDP was 210,800 yuan.
In 2021, industrial companies above designated size in the county-level city achieved an output of 584.24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.7 percent, both of which were the highest in recent years. The operating revenue of services enterprises above designated size was 35.51 billion yuan, up 25.8 percent year-on-year, in the same period.
Last year, Zhangjiagang launched a series of campaigns to stimulate consumption potential and the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 80 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.2 percent.
The imports and exports of the city totaled $43.46 billion, a year-on-year growth of 29.6 percent, 7.9 points higher than the Suzhou average, last year.
The per capita disposable income of Zhangjiagang residents was 66,101 yuan, up 9.0 percent year-on-year. The figure for urban and rural residents was 77,939 yuan and 41,859 yuan respectively, a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent and 10.3 percent. The income gap between the two groups was narrower than before.
