The bureau of human resources and social security of Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has organized a series of live streams for job fairs to boost employment during the current COVID-19 outbreak.
On April 6, one such event for the new energy sector was held and watched by more than 5,000 people. Directors of human resources from many local enterprises, including CRRC (Suzhou) Hydrogen Power Technology Co, a subsidiary of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, used the opportunity to share available job positions, such as electrolyte and composite development engineers.
Xiao Yan, an HR manager at Zhangjiagang Guotai Huarong New Chemical Materials Co, said she received more than 100 resumes during the live stream and was impressed at how efficient the event was at helping companies find employees.
The bureau has held similar job fairs for the high-end textile, automobile and intelligent equipment industries, and is looking to roll out more fairs in its towns and districts.
It has also worked with 100 Chinese universities to advertise over 16,000 jobs for 338 companies that have already received over 10,000 applications. The campaign will run till mid-May.
The bureau has also launched a program to help job seekers learn more about prospective employers.
