Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently listed as a national hygiene city for the 10th consecutive year.
The city's government has set up a work group responsible for the improvement of the local environment, infrastructure, public order, public service announcements, as well as residents' behaviors. Actions have also been taken to deal with public health issues in old neighborhoods and farmers' markets.
In villages around scenic areas, Zhangjiagang has built many public toilets for tourists .
A series of events were held to encourage residents to lead a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the city has constructed five parks and 41 walking paths for people to exercise.
