Jingang Customs in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, has created new supervision methods to increase port customs clearance efficiency, local media reported on Dec 30.

The customs clearance time for imported goods has been reduced to less than 70 hours, 80 percent shorter than before.

Measures such as online pre-examination of origin products, intelligent checks and self-service printing of certificates of origin have been taken to simplify customs clearance procedures.

In terms of large bulk cargo, Jingang Customs has implemented a new model allowing bonded goods to all be cleared at once and go through the formalities for leaving the bonded area in batches.

Since the beginning of this year, Jingang Customs has handled 4,994 pieces of large bulk cargo worth $3.19 billion, saving 53.23 million yuan ($8.35 million) in transportation costs and 4.42 million yuan in customs declaration costs.

Next, Jingang Customs will closely monitor the demands of Zhangjiagang import and export enterprises to optimize its services and better contribute to the economic development of the port city.
