Zhangjiagang healthy city movement wins recognition

Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province took home the Award for Creative Developments in Healthy Cities by the Alliance for Healthy Cites and the World Health Organization for its efforts in creating a healthy city, the only city in Jiangsu winning the honor.

 

Three projects carried out in Zhangjiagang won the international recognition. The projects involve the convenient and open access to health information platforms and electronic health records, innovation and development of an internet hospital, as well as innovation in food distribution during and beyond COVID-19.

 

The health information platform of Zhangjiagang currently manages the health information of more than 1 million people in the city and offers medical services to nearly 30,000 people every day.

During the epidemic, Zhangjiagang offered online services, including online inquiries, appointments for a check-up and remote consultation with a multi-disciplinary team of experts from Yangtze River Delta.

In addition, Zhangjiagang has strengthened the supervision of the food cold chain by adopting a comprehensive tracing system for food inspection, circulation, and distribution to mitigate and control COVID-19 transmissions.
