Jiangsu Province's Regulations on Air Pollution Control and Prevention took effect since March 4. It is considered the harshest bylaw the province has adopted to fight air polluters.
The regulations stipulate that barbeque in public areas, such as roadsides, residential communities and parks, is illegal if without permission from authorities. Offenders will be fined up to 2,000 yuan ($318).
The new regulations also contain requirements for supervision, public access to information, public participation, early warning, emergency measures, and regional coordination in pollution control.
