Nowadays many businesses are selling products through emerging business platforms such as Weibo and WeChat. Some clever rice cake sellers are also taking this opportunity to do business on WeChat. Businesswoman Wu Yan publicizes her three kinds of colored rice cakes with pictures, attracting many friends to buy.

Wu's cakes are divided into three kinds: red ones with brown sugar and red bean paste, yellow ones with pumpkin paste, and green ones made from flour mixed with green barley juice. Due to the natural, pollution-free process of making the treats, her rice cakes are very popular within her circle of friends as soon as she advertises them.

Through word of mouth from her WeChat friends, the cakes are now renowned far and wide. Wu not only gets orders from netizens in distant places such as Suzhou, Nanjing and Yancheng, but also from foreign customers. “My rice cakes are going global!” said Wu with a big smile.
