Wuxi's Binhu district donated anti-epidemic materials to Castelldefels in Spain and Salzburg in Austria on March 27 to aid them in their fight against the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

The urgently-needed supplies included 20,000 disposable surgical masks, 10,000 medical masks, 1,200 KN95 masks, 200 goggles, 1,000 protective clothes and 1,000 pairs of gloves.

Before this donation, Binhu had sent medical materials to the Japanese headquarters of Japanese-funded enterprises.

Binhu and Castelldefels became sister cities in 2010 and have maintained a strong relationship in many areas.

Chen Xilun, director of Binhu, sent a letter to Maria Miranda, mayor of Castelldefels, as the epidemic spreads in Spain, saying that Binhu would like to cooperate with its sister city in the anti-virus fight to keep people safe.

Shu Min from the district's business bureau connected Ignacio Preciado Lorenzo, general manager of a Spanish trading enterprise, to discuss the donation details. The supplies will be sent to two public hotels, four private hospitals, 18 senior service centers and a local police station.

When the virus hit Salzburg, Professor Richard Greil, head of the city's medical emergency group, turned to Binhu for help, and Binhu responded quickly by sending urgently-needed medical supplies.
