Wuxi's Binhu district held its first offline job fair of 2020 on March 25 at the district's human resources service center as the COVID-19 epidemic wanes in China.

Sixteen enterprises based in the district offered 586 jobs, and 282 applicants attended the fair, 105 of which found potential jobs.

The district held an online recruitment event earlier to keep the job market strong amid the epidemic.

According to the district's human resources and social security bureau, 509 enterprises in Binhu offered jobs during the online job fair, but most of the applicants didn't find a job they were interested in, and some thought face-to-face communication would be better.

An HR worker said their enterprise had hired several workers during the online job fair but still needed more.

Jobs offered at the fair were mainly for technicians, secretaries, and salespeople, positions that are in urgent need of filling, and monthly salaries were as high as 8,000 yuan ($1,128.65).

College graduates, people who face difficulties finding jobs, and veterans were informed of the job fair in advance.

To prevent against infection, organizers of the job fair limited the number of attendees.

Each enterprise is only allowed to place one recruiter at its booth, and the number of applicants at the job fair is limited to 50. If the fair is too full, people must wait outside until others clear out.

Everyone is required to present their Wuxi health code and have their temperature taken at the entrance.

The bureau plans to continue holding online and offline job fairs, and the next offline job fair is set to be held after the upcoming Qingming Festival holiday.
