Wuxi's Binhu district launched an online job fair on Feb 10 to meet the needs of enterprises that have resumed operations in the district amid the epidemic.
As of Feb 17, 340 employers have offered more than 4,000 jobs and 2,100 applicants have signed up on the official website.
According to the district's human resources center, 86 percent of the applicants are living in Wuxi due to restrictions on transportation.
Sixty-three percent of the jobs are at production and processing companies involved in electronics and manufacturing.
The job fair received praise from local enterprises experiencing labor shortages.
Chen Ping, HR manager at turbocharger technology company Wuxi Lihu Corporation Limited, said the online job fair has helped a lot. Over 80 percent of its employees are back to work, but the company still needs nearly 300 workers.
The company has lowered its job requirements to attract applicants. Technical positions which require an undergraduate degree are now available for applicants with an associate's degree if they have significant experience.
Xiao Ying, HR of Wuxi Xinan Aluminum Technology Co, which produces aluminum parts for automobiles, said the company needs 500 workers.
To attract local applicants, the company has changed the age limit from 40 to 45 years old, and that will be increased further if the applicants are in good health.
The job fair will last until Feb 29 and will be extended according to the epidemic situation.
