Binhu's IC project to get 150m yuan in financial support

Updated: 2020-01-06

A project to produce high-performance real-time microprocessors, launched by CKS, an integrated circuits (IC) company located in Binhu district, will receive 15 million yuan ($2.15 million) in financial support.

It was recently listed among projects to receive special funds from the government of Jiangsu province to support the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

CKS will invest 690 million yuan into the R&D and production of microprocessors, including 32-bit DSPs (digital signal processors) and MCUs (microprogrammed control units), which are used as core components in many electronics.

The company plans to put China on the technological world stage and enhance its independent R&D capabilities in core components by carrying out research related to core technologies such as high-efficiency instruction fetching technology and low-power consumption technology, which are used to develop 32-bit real-time microprocessors.

By promoting the large-scale industrialization of high-performance real-time microprocessor-series chips, CKS is expected to begin producing 10 million MCU products per year, generating a total of 300 million yuan in new sales and 22 million yuan in profits over the next three years.

Throughout the course of the project, the science and technology bureau of Binhu district will continue tracking its progress and helping CKS overcome obstacles.
