Wuxi Studios holds lecture by high-level filmmakers

Representatives from world-leading film companies gave a lecture on post-production at the Wuxi National Digital Film Industrial Park, also known as Wuxi Studios, on Dec 12.

The lecture is part of Wuxi Studios' efforts to improve talent cultivation and promote the latest technologies in the film and television industry.

Professionals from Base FX (Wuxi), a visual effects company located in Wuxi Studios, and Ftrack, a film and television production process management software company, described the industry's development and analyzed digital effects for more than 300 teachers and students during the lecture.

Base FX is an Emmy Award winner for outstanding visual effects and was nominated for an Academy Award for its work on Captain America II and Star Wars VII.

Base FX (Wuxi) also talked about its latest work Sky Fire, a disaster film which came out on the same day.

A total of 251 employees at Base FX (Wuxi) spent more than a year making more than 800 scenes for the film.

Xie Ning, vice president of Base FX (Wuxi), said that professional technicians play an important part in the development of post-production enterprises and he hopes more lectures like this will be held to help train talent for future Chinese movies.

Wuxi Studios is home to a number of film and television production enterprises and will continue to develop digital production technologies for high-quality modern movies, according to the studio's representative.
