Updated: 2019-11-22

The Wuxi branch of Southeast University will move to its new campus near Changguangxi Wetland Park in Wuxi's Binhu district next autumn, Wuxi Daily reported on Nov 12.

The new campus, which covers an area of 500 mu (33 hectares), is located east of Shan Shui East Road and north of Zheze Road and will house about five new institutes. An international education school with an investment of 2 billion yuan will be established on the new campus.

"Around 5,000 students are expected to begin studying on the new campus before 2025," said Qin Wenhu, vice principal of the Wuxi branch of Southeast University.

The new campus was officially approved in January in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Wuxi branch of Southeast University. The university's School of Microelectronics also opened this year.

The School of Microelectronics offers majors in electronic science and technology, information engineering, and internet of things for undergraduate students, and an integrated circuit engineering major for postgraduates.

The school also worked with the Catholic University of Leuven, a top Belgian microelectronic research institute, to establish a communication chip and microsystem major.

"Our school has also brought onboard Wong Ching-Ping, academic of the United States National Academy of Engineering, as a part-time professor to train talents and conduct scientific research," Qin added.
