Lihu Lake Intl Marathon concludes in Binhu

The 2019 Beverly Round Lihu Lake International Half Marathon concluded on Nov 3 in Binhu district, Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

A total of 13,000 runners from all over the world took part in the event, which consisted of two competitions – a 21.1-kilometer half marathon for 10,000 runners and a 5-kilometer mini marathon for 3,000 runners

David Barmast Tumo from Kenya won the men's half marathon with a time of 1 hour 8 minutes 41 seconds, while Caroline Jeruto Chesir from Kenya won the women's half marathon with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes 2 seconds.

The winners were awarded specially designed medals inspired by the autumn scenery of Lihu Lake, along with 10,000 yuan ($1,415.49) in prize money.

The marathon course passed through several famous scenic spots in the district, including Lihu Park and Yuantouzhu.

The event, jointly hosted by the Chinese Athletic Association and the Binhu district government, was awarded a Gold Label this year in recognition of its status as one of the nation's top road races.
