Binhu district held an opening ceremony for its 4th sports meet on Oct 26, which is meant to promote fitness among residents.

Sixty-four teams of athletes and representatives from 79 communities throughout the district made their debut at the ceremony, which was witnessed by more than 5,000 people, including government officials and local residents.

District Governor Chen Xilun said that this year's event will feature 24 different sports, which attracted a record of more than 10,000 participants.

To allow more people to take part in the event, four divisions were established for staff, the elderly, teenagers, and the disabled.

The sporting event, which is held every five years, has received heavy support from various government departments and sports associations.
