A renovation project that started on Oct 12 will turn provincial highway 608 into a "tourism road" connecting popular scenic sports throughout Binhu district.

Some sections of the 25-kilometre road will finish reconstruction within 180 days, said the district's highway department.

After completion, the road will connect the Plum Garden, Turtle-Head Peninsula (Yuantouzhu Scenic Area), the Wuxi Movie Base, and the Wuxi Sunac Resort.

"A large portion of the road is facing issues such as an increasing number of cracks and a lower capacity for traffic," said an official from the district's transportation department, "so we decided to rebuild it for the benefit of both tourists and local residents."
