Wuxi's Binhu district recorded total tourism revenue of 2.86 billion yuan ($401.78 million) during China's week-long National Day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 21.93 percent, according the local tourism bureau.

Statistics from the bureau showed that main scenic spots in the district received 2.09 million visits, an increase of 20.55 percent -- scooping up ticket income of 79.03 million yuan, an increase of 12 percent during the holiday, popularly known as the Golden Week.

In celebration of the National Day, tourist attractions in the district held various cultural activities featuring a display of Chinese traditional culture and celebrating the country's development over the past 70 years.

Tourists enjoyed not only the beautiful natural fall scenery in the district but also splendid exhibitions, music performances and a light arts festival organized by some of the scenic areas in the district.

In response to the vast number of visits, the district government coordinated its functional departments to relieve traffic pressure and ensure safety during the Golden Week, providing a sound tourism environment for travelers from home and abroad.
