The Changguangxi wetland, at the foot of Junzhang Hill, is a beneficiary of the government's restoration project. It is 10 kilometers long and covers an area of about 260 hectares, including a water area of about 80 hectares.

It is a canal dug during the Three Kingdom period (AD220-280) connecting Lihu Lake to the north and Taihu Lake to the south, a national ecological wetland park engaged in ecological preservation, recreation, popularization of science and cultural experience.

The park is one of the ten national urban wetland parks in China. In summer, there is a vast area of lotus flowers. In autumn, the lotus pond is like a natural ink and wash painting.

The Lotus Pond

There is a large lotus pond in Changguangxi Wetland Park. In late autumn and early winter, the lotus flowers withers, while the lotus petioles still stand toughly, leaving their charming shadows in water. If you are a good photographer, you may get the chance to take a picture of the natural ink and wash painting.

Autumn sceneries

It is not exaggerated to say that the Changguangxi Wetland Park has the most beautiful autumn sceneries. It has the richest vegetation resources in Taihu Lake.

Under the sunshine, there are a great variety of plants in different colors: some red maple, yellow leaves on the ground, rare red lemna floating on the water and white reed catkins.
