Updated: 2015-11-05

Wuxi Taihu National Tourist Resort at Mashan Peninsula will host the sixth Taihu International Angling Tourism Festival from Nov 12 to 15, ending an 18-year hiatus. The last angling festival was held in 1996.

According to the event organizing committee, this year's festival will offer various activities including an international angling tournament, a family angling contest, an orienteering, a charity walk, camping, and a food festival. More than 4,000 anglers, travelers and international friends will participate in the event.

The festival, co-organized by the China Angling Association, the Jiangsu Sports Bureau and the Wuxi Taihu National Tourist Resort Management Committee, strives to promote a healthy lifestyle and to enhance Wuxi's international influence.

The previous five festivals were held from 1992 to 1996, attracting many domestic and foreign visitors while contributing to the development of Mashan.

Mashan's mild climate and fertile soil produce the agricultural riches that have given the area a reputation as a "fruit garden in the south of the Yangtze River Delta". The resort zone is initiating more tourism projects and forging more leisure brands.
