Updated: 2014-12-19

Wuxi, Jiangsu province opened China's first wax museum, which uses sculptures made by 3D printing, at the State Digital Cinema Industry Park, on Dec 8.

The museum covers a 3000-square-meter area with six exhibition sites for 60 film, music, sports, politics, and other celebrities, such as Audrey Hepburn, a US actress from Belgium, and Lionel Andrés Messi, a famous football player from Argentine.

One staff member, added, "You can make a sculpture of yourself, or your family, through 3D printing as a gift you can treasure all your life."

Unlike the traditional method, which requires several hours of taking accurate measurements of the real person, 3D-printing uses only a 3D-scanner to obtain the person’s data, at a speed of 16 fps.
