The Binhu district had a total of 7.57 million tourists during the January to June period, bringing revenues of 8.26 billion yuan, and total culture and creative industry revenues of 2.75 billion yuan, thanks to its effort to put its scattered historical and cultural resources into packaged routes and the integration of tourist content.
In the first half, it integrated "culture" projects such as Wanda tourism city and Nianhua Bay, and festival activities such as the 11th Tourism Festival of Wuxi Taihu Lake Landscape, Qingdao Beer Festival and Xuelang Mountain Lavender Festival, and continued work on the "most beautiful mountain village" and the Wuxi National Digital Film Industrial Park (Huallywood AAAA tourist attraction).
The industrial park was designated a national demonstration base for culture and technology integration, and 44 enterprises and celebrity studios such as Filmko Pictures and Fan Bingbing Studio set up shop in the park, and it was the site of filming for several dozen films and TV plays, including Transformers IV at the same time, the Lingshan Culture and Creativity Industry Park was designated a provincial culture industry demonstration park.
The increasingly beautiful environment is also an important tourist attraction, since the district developed cleaner production and cut sulfur dioxide emissions by 59.6 tons and nitrogen dioxides by 13.3 tons in the first half. It also improved its rivers and lakes and renovated 21 stinking river channels and and completed a forestation work on 129 hectares of land, adding 1.58 million square meters of greenery to the urban landscape and three small gardens.
