Landscape culture is at its core landscape ecology, which is the most charming thing of the bay district, where the 80-kilometer shoreline of Taihu Lake with its beautiful scenery, the natural landscape of Lihu Lake, Meiliang Lake, Mashan Hill and the Changguang River Wetlands, together with Turtle-Head Peninsula, Taihu’s most amazing place, are the core of the Binhu district.

Binhu has fantastic scenery - the unique water town in south of Yangtze River, and the ecology and resources of Turtle-Head Peninsula - a National AAAAA tourist attraction.

Over time, it has developed an ecological garden, with the Shangxian River to the east, Mount Xuelang and Hongsha Bay to the south, the Mashan Hill and Meilianghu Lake scenic area to the west, the Xihui scenic area to the north, and Wuli Lake and the Changguang River running from north to south in the middle. A colorful landscape culture was built in the following way:

First, it built up a colorful ”landscape culture” brand for the charmingly beautiful bay district.

Binhu hosted a Landscape Culture Festival, Ecological Tourism Festival, and Taihu Lake Tour, and developed route products, such as high speed rail tour and self-drive leisure tour.

It created such tourist brochures as Binhu Tour Guide and Eat at Binhu. Binhu has seen millions of tourists from China and abroad, and attracted celebrities such as the Chinese realist painter Lin Fan and famous children’s book author Yang Peng.

Second, it developed a more beautiful environment after many years of renovation and ecological work - the Changguang River Wetlands got a national level water park. It improved the management of Taihu Lake, got a high environmental quality index, and got national ecological region recognition so the Binhu district became the first choice for Wuxi’s people for living or leisure.

Third, urban construction gradually improved with a more aesthetic look, quality projects agreeing with the landscape, urban and industrial features for the Taihu New Town and Lihu New Town. And Helie, Yugang and Zhouxin’s old streets were transformed through a standard plan.

Fourth, city management services and environment inspections were established in villages and communities and programs for illegal buildings, streetscapes and lighting, and backstreets and alleys with good results.
