Zhangjiagang Modern Agricultural Demonstration Park was renamed in October 2008. It aims to develop the area into a modern ecological park featuring ecological agriculture industries, such as scaled planting, mechanization agriculture and tourism agriculture.

Since 2009, the Park has invited Pudong Planning & Design Institute and Nanjing Agriculural University to make out the development plan of the area. According to the master plan, there will be a 4,200 M² glassgreenhouse and 7 26,000 M² film greenhouses in the core area. A 120 M² Agriculture Exhibition Center and a 1,200 M³ Fruit and Vegetable Refrigerator will be built in 5 bases. 5 bases will mainly raise quality rice and wheat, plants and flowers, fruits and vegetables, special aquatic products, livestock and poultry. Besides, tourism agriculure will be an important industry of the Park in the future. An AAA tourism site of eological park will be built where people can enjoy the beautiful sceneries along Yangtze River.
