Chimen (Red) Gate is located 1.5 kilometers south of Xiangmen Gate. The gate faces the south. As in the points of a compass, the south is in the midday position, pertaining to fire. Since fire looks red, the gate is referred as Chimen Gate. It is impossible to check when the gate was abolished.
