Taiping Bridge
Updated: 2010-02-20
In April 1991, Qiaoben Xinquan, a female Japanese painter, admired the place and made a special trip to go sketching in Zhouzhuang. She chose to focus on the Taiping Bridge in her artistic creation. She drew herself into the pictures – through the round bridge opening, a Japanese woman was sitting up straight at the bank making sketches.
Two years later, Qiaoben Xinquan held a drawing show in Shanghai. When the show was concluded, she made a special trip to Zhouzhuang and presented the oil painting, A Day in Zhouzhuang, to the villagers. Since then, the Taiping Bridge is connected with Japan's peace-loving people. Chinese and Japanese people expect the two countries always be friends with each other. This is a real story on the friendship between China and Japan.
