The Zhangjiagang Comprehensive Bonded Zone (CBZ) launched special customs operations on April 10, marking a new leap forward in the city's opening-up level.
On that day, the electronic screen displayed real-time customs clearance data, intelligent inspection equipment operated efficiently, containers were loaded and unloaded in an orderly manner, and trucks shuttled back and forth on schedule.
First established as a bonded zone in 1992, the area was integrated and upgraded to a CBZ in 2024. By the following year, the zone accounted for over 30 percent of the city's actual foreign investment and more than 40 percent of its total imports and exports.
"Afterwards, the declaration process for goods has been made simpler, the customs clearance cycle greatly shortened, and the logistics cost effectively reduced," said Lu Jianrong, general manager at the port of the Zhangjiagang CBZ.
