At the ongoing 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition from April 25 to May 4, the electric Mini Cooper produced by Spotlight Automotive, the GWM-BMW joint venture, stood out from among 278 new energy vehicle models.
Walter Mertl, a member of the Board of Management and chief financial officer of BMW Group, visited Zhangjiagang, where Spotlight is located, and praised the city's comprehensive industrial ecosystem and excellent business environment, which have provided favorable conditions for the rapid growth of the joint venture.
Spotlight Automotive, initiated in Zhangjiagang in 2018, marks a significant step forward for Zhangjiagang's new energy vehicle industry and serves as a model for collaboration in China's automotive industry.
Zhangjiagang has become a hub for over 100 automotive component and vehicle manufacturing companies, including ZF, Magna, and Jatco. The lithium battery industry, in the upstream of the auto industrial chain, has also shown remarkable growth in the city, with many leading enterprises such as Tianqi Lithium and HSC Corporation.
