In the first two months of this year, Jin'gang Customs in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province oversaw the importation of 30,000 tons of cotton, marking a staggering 255 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Jin'gang Customs has been promoting various measures to streamline the logistics process for imported cotton, from the port to warehouses and then to enterprises. This effort aims to address issues such as insufficient transportation capacity and congestion caused by multiple deliveries within a short period of time.

The customs authority has also been guiding enterprises to take advantage of inspection-related policies. For imported cotton that does not require quality testing, customs officers conduct on-site inspections and quarantine checks, expediting the flow of goods.

Additionally, changes have been made to the method of weighing cotton, resulting in a 75 percent reduction in labor and time savings.

According to Gu Xiaobin, a senior officer, the customs authority is also introducing innovative technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Jin'gang Customs will continue to optimize the supervision process for bulk commodities such as cotton, aiming to further reduce inspection and testing times and lower overall business costs.
