Taicang is stepping up tailored tax services for enterprises through a new dedicated liaison system, under which officials from the city's tax bureau serve as primary contacts for major businesses, offering ongoing guidance on tax compliance and policy implementation.
Since the system was introduced, tax bureau officials have made more than 50 visits to key enterprises, providing ongoing support for their operations and helping resolve tax-related issues.
At Sundiro Honda Motorcycle Suzhou, a growing business identified opportunities to improve how it tracks and accounts for research and development expenses. During several visits, tax officials worked with the company's finance team to review key procedures, including project registration and expense allocation. They also explained the requirements for high-tech enterprise certification and additional tax deductions for eligible R&D spending, using practical examples to clarify the policies.
"The patient, hands-on compliance guidance has strengthened our determination to continue growing in Taicang," said Zhao Lei, the company's executive deputy general manager. Sundiro Honda has now launched the third phase of its project in the city.
In another visit, tax bureau officials met with Mubea Automotive Components Taicang to discuss procedural tax questions arising from the group's global restructuring. They pledged to coordinate with relevant departments to study the issues and follow up on possible solutions.
"The tax authorities brought policy guidance directly to us and helped us clarify our options," said Dominik von Hagen, chief financial officer for Asia at Mubea Group. "This business environment gives us confidence in our future development in Taicang."
