Big supermarkets in Taicang offer more than places to stock up on groceries. If you step outside or head downstairs, you may find a whole world of delicious food options waiting.

Loudong Food Street

One great spot is Loudong Food Street, located just outside the Yonghui Supermarket, where you can discover a wide range of eateries all under one roof.

At Chen Xiang Gui, you can choose from five different noodle thicknesses for a bowl of hand-pulled Lanzhou beef noodles, with extra noodles available at no additional charge. Pair it with a few skewers of grilled lamb for an even better meal.

Rice Space serves up homestyle dishes prepared in an open kitchen. Its sweet-and-sour ribs are tender and richly coated in sauce, while braised green beans and eggplant soak up plenty of savory flavor.

For a variety of options, try Dacheng Hot Pot Buffet. You can choose from an extensive selection, including squid, beef rolls, fried chicken, burgers and Swiss rolls.

At Wang Jiao Jiao, the pork liver noodles are a standout. Thick-cut pork liver is tender and mild, complemented by bell peppers that provide a fresh, colorful contrast to the chewy noodles.

Xin Hua Xi is known for its rice noodles, served in a rich bone broth with just the right touch of spice. Add beef tripe, chewy beef tendon and tofu puffs that soak up the broth, and you've got a bowl packed with flavor and texture.

At Shougeng Shaanxi Noodles, be sure to try the biangbiang noodles. Wide, chewy noodles are topped with tomato and egg, minced meat, stir-fried pork and fresh greens. A final drizzle of hot oil over the chili flakes brings everything together with an irresistible aroma.

And don't leave without trying Xin Zhen Yuan's shengjian, a Shanghai-style pan-fried bun with a crisp bottom and a slightly sweet flavor. Bite through the thin, golden crust, sip the savory broth inside and enjoy the juicy shrimp and pork filling.
