German specialty chemicals manufacturer Zeller+Gmelin has signed an agreement to establish a new lubricant project in Taicang Port Area, further strengthening the city's appeal to German companies and adding fresh momentum to its high-end lubricant industry.
Headquartered in Eislingen, Germany, Zeller+Gmelin has more than 160 years of experience in specialty chemicals. Its product portfolio includes industrial lubricants, engine oils, release agents, printing inks and coatings.
The company plans to build a new base in the Port Area's chemical industrial park, covering research, development, manufacturing, warehousing and administrative operations.
Marc Tran Heller, general manager of Zeller+Gmelin Suzhou, expressed appreciation for the professional support provided by local government departments throughout the project's development. He said Taicang, particularly its chemical industrial park, is a strong fit for the company's needs.
The Taicang project will serve as one of Zeller+Gmelin's key production bases in China, Heller said. The company will accelerate construction and commissioning, expand capabilities in local R&D, and work with Taicang to grow its presence in the region.
Taicang Port Area is already home to lubricant projects operated by global players, including ExxonMobil and BP, making it one of Asia's largest production hubs for premium lubricants.
