Taicang offered an international group of young visitors a glimpse into its past, present and vibrant urban life on Aug 18, as an event titled "Where the Sea Breeze Leads: A Youth Journey Through Taicang" brought together influencers, students and musicians from Russia, France, Cuba, Germany and the United States.

The one-day experience took participants across some of Taicang's most distinctive cultural and industrial landmarks, from the Zheng He Memorial Museum and Zippo China Museum to a high-speed karting circuit, a beverage factory and the Rothenburg Waterfront Street.

The day concluded at the Maritim Hotel & Congress Center, where the visitors got a foretaste of the festive atmosphere ahead of the 21st Taicang Rothenburg Oktoberfest.

At the Zheng He Memorial Museum, the story of the legendary Chinese navigator offered the international guests a new perspective on China's maritime history. Among all aspects, Russian social media creator Aleksandra Antonenko was most struck by Zheng He's voyages, noting that despite the strength of his fleets, their mission centered on diplomacy and exchange – a spirit of connectivity that remains inspiring today.

At the Zippo China Museum, more than 3,000 collectible lighters trace the brand's century-long history, while special exhibits showcase its collaborations with traditional Chinese crafts such as Suzhou embroidery and filigree enamel.

German musician Claudius Lepetit said the day had exceeded his expectations, and authentic German cuisine stood out as a pleasant surprise.
