Taicang Port shines as giant ships set sail on international voyages
Taicang Port, the largest foreign trade port on the Yangtze River, has become a hub for numerous shipping companies, witnessing the constant flow of colossal vessels.
COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers' ship, CSPC SAGITTARIUS, has set sail from Taicang Port's CSP Terminal, heading to Brazil. It carried over 2,600 Chinese-made new energy vehicles, marking its maiden voyage on the BRICS Express. This weekly specialized shipping service was launched by COSCO Shipping in May 2025 to boost trade between China and South America, particularly with Brazil.
The CSPC SAGITTARIUS is a massive vessel with a deadweight tonnage of 85,000 metric tons. It features eco-friendly and intelligent designs, making it suitable for transporting a variety of cargoes, including paper pulp and wind power equipment.

Meanwhile, the world's largest dual-fuel container ship, Xinfu 136, commenced its sea trial from Taicang Port on March 2. This ship, measuring 399.9 meters, boasts exceptional environmental performance, reducing sulfur oxide emissions by 99 percent and carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent.
