Chinese New Year delights await in Zhangjiagang

To celebrate Chinese New Year, Zhangjiagang has organized a range of cultural and tourism activities, offering residents and tourists a lively and festive atmosphere. 

Xiangshan Mountain Scenic Area 

The Traditional Chinese Style Plum Blossom Festival at Xiangshan Mountain Scenic Area kicked off on Feb 1 and runs through March 15. Visitors can explore thousands of plum trees, experience a unique Chinese-style market, enjoy a flash mob, and watch live performances of Xiju — a traditional Chinese opera form.

Jiyang Lake Amusement Park 

Jiyang Lake Amusement Park runs its snow-themed park from Jan 1 to Feb 23, offering creative snowman-building areas and interactive snowball fight zones. These engaging ice and snow activities are favorites for festive fun. 

Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Area 

From Feb 15 to 23, Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Area will host a series of New Year folk activities, including an intangible cultural heritage market and fun lantern riddles. There will also be performances of Heyang folk songs and interactive activities at the Peach Courtyard. 

Shazhou Youhuang Cultural Park 

The Shazhou Youhuang Cultural Park will host a Spring Festival Carnival from Feb 15 to 23. Visitors can wander through the market for intangible cultural heritage, savor fragrant rice wine, listen to live music, watch exciting acrobatics, and engage in traditional craft activities. 

Zhangjiagang Museum 

From Feb 18 to 23, the Zhangjiagang Museum will introduce eight distinct craft activities. These include blue calico printing, DIY horse-themed pendants, and creative red envelope stamping, giving residents the chance to create their own Chinese New Year cultural items.

Zhangjiagang Library 

Themed reading activities are scheduled at the Zhangjiagang Library from Feb 15 to 23, including lantern riddles and idiom relay games, blending reading with interactive entertainment. 

In addition, Zhangjiagang offers benefits such as distributing cultural and tourism consumption vouchers and providing free access to A-level scenic areas to tourists born in the Year of the Horse (such as 2014, 2002, 1990) or with the surname "Ma" from Feb 15 to March 3.
