The success of Zhangjiagang athlete Sheng Lihao, who won two gold medals in shooting at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has ignited a passion for the sport among local teenagers. Today, shooting has become a hugely popular activity among the city's youth.
At Donglai Elementary School's Sheng Lihao Shooting Hall, students, under the guidance of expert coaches, practice how to control their breathing before taking aim and firing with self-mastery and precision.
As Sheng Lihao's alma mater, the school established and opened the Sheng Lihao Shooting Hall in December 2024. It is equipped with six laser shooting ranges and score displays to meet daily training needs.
While enthusiasm for the sport at the school surges, professional social support has also been ramped up. Last December, the city's first professional shooting range opened, offering event-standard courses, technical training, and building platforms for provincial and national competitions, allowing more children to experience the charm of shooting.
At the 2025 China Secondary School Shooting League, Zhangjiagang students won the championship in the 10-meter laser rifle mixed team event and secured second place in the girls' team event. More children in Zhangjiagang are aiming for a future of focus, composure, and courage through shooting.
