The groundbreaking ceremony for the integrated magnetic sensor chip project constructed by Suzhou Matrix Optoelectronics Co Ltd was held on July 10 in Fenghuang town, Zhangjiagang.
The project, with a total investment of 150 million yuan ($20.85 million), will see the establishment of a 21,000-square-meter research and production base including an intelligent manufacturing workshop, research and development laboratory, and testing and reliability laboratory for automotive-grade IC products. It is expected to produce 100 million chips annually.
Suzhou Matrix Optoelectronics Co Ltd, established in 2012, has become the only domestic integrated device manufacturer (IDM) with a complete mass production line for gallium arsenide and indium antimonide Hall effect devices. It supplies products to many leading companies such as BYD, China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation, Lenovo, Tencent, and Murata from Japan.
Zhu Xin, chairman of the company, said that the project will also recruit chip talent to lay a solid foundation for the company's future development.
The new project signifies Matrix's commitment to technological advancement and the expansion of its product offerings. With the new research and production base, the company aims to further enhance its capabilities in the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, contributing to the growth of the industry in the region.
